Issues

Heather has demonstrated her commitment to working for all of Jefferson County, particularly through her role on the Jefferson County Economic Development Council (Team Jefferson) and with her current work with Bayside Housing & Services. In the role of County Commissioner for District 1, Heather will leverage her many years of hard work, and her experience advocating for important locals issues in Olympia, for the benefit of all residents across the county.

Heather understands that it's the Commissioners' job to listen to the needs of the community and not to become entrenched in an opinion. Her working approach is to bring a diversity of voices to the table to assess the possible solutions, to help create and manage the resources needed to realize those solutions, and then to collaborate with community and other partners to put those resources to work.

Heather's Pledge and Priorities:

"As a longtime resident of Jefferson County I know that many people here lack adequate and affordable housing, healthcare, childcare and the financial wherewithal to feel secure. Many lack the energy at the end of a hard day to realize their full potential. If elected to serve as your County Commissioner, I pledge to continue to find ways to make life better for the people in our community. And I'll stay alert to opportunities to preserve the natural beauty of our land and waters so that we, and future generations, can thrive here.

I'm running for County Commissioner because county government is charged with a mandate to provide the physical and social infrastructure that sustains our shared community.  I care about public safety, public health, good roads, fair elections and access to justice. I am willing to work hard for you so that these county services and many others continue to earn your trust, and so that the County itself continues to be a respected and vital partner within the web of public and non-profit agencies, along with community partners and citizen volunteers, that are tasked with creating our future. I've got a lot more creative energy to invest in our community and decades of experience to offer.

As a citizen, these are among the key issues that matter to me which I would advocate for in my role with county government:

  • Providing opportunities for civic engagement and lifting the voices of all people in Jefferson County.
  • Making and preserving spaces for young and old, families and elders together, to spend quality time in a healthy shared environment.
  • Speaking up at state and federal levels to advocate for more resources, especially to support housing and mental health solutions.
  • Supporting truly sustainable food systems that will feed our community in good times and bad.
  • Improving access to transportation that connects people to work, services and recreation.
  • Strengthening partnerships with sovereign tribal neighbors.
  • Strengthening collaboration between local government agencies and the non-governmental organizations that provide vital services to Jefferson County citizens.
  • Giving our children access to opportunities that allow them to learn about the world and to find their place in it.
  • Growing our commitment to a culture of equity for people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, religions, financial positions and political beliefs.
  • Building trust amongst neighbors, with a shared commitment to truthful exchanges of information, mutual respect for differences, and honest effort to come together on common issues.

Let's work together to improve the lives of everyone in Jefferson County.  Please vote Heather Dudley-Nollette for Jefferson County Commissioner, District 1."
